The St. Mary's River Yacht Club was founded in 1947 to promote sailing and camaraderie on our beautiful river. We typically race every other weekend from early April through October, and cruising events are scattered throughout the season. We welcome visitors to our racing and cruising events.
We are located on the western tip of Southern Maryland, where the Potomac River enters the Chesapeake Bay. The river surrounds historic St. Mary's City and is the home of St. Mary's College of Maryland and its champion sailors.
Our yacht club has no clubhouse or club facilities for reciprocity with other clubs, however there are several marinas on the river for visitors (see Useful Links). The river depth averages 15 to 20 feet up to Horseshoe Point with numerous peaceful anchorages.
